Practical information

Children of all ages are welcome at Willumsens Museum – even the very youngest. However, we have prioritized completely free access to the art; We do not hide the paintings behind barriers and glass, and in several places have very narrow walkways. This means that you can get very close to the art. This also means that we ask very young guests to come on the arm of an adult or in a baby carrier while you are in the exhibitions. You can also borrow a small stroller from us, where a Voksi bag or baby carrier can be placed.

If the little one is sleeping, you can take a walk in the park or along the nearby coast. Or you can park the stroller by one of the large windows in the café and take a break with a cup of hot coffee. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we really appreciate your help in looking after the art!

Willumsens Museum has given high priority to being accessible to the disabled. There is disabled parking in the parking lot in front of the museum and a level access road to the museum.
The museum has a disabled toilet and an elevator between floors. However, the museum's balcony is not accessible to wheelchair users.

It is possible to borrow a wheelchair by contacting the ticket office, but unfortunately it is not possible to reserve the wheelchair in advance.

Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the museum, café or shop. Your dog is welcome to wait for you on a leash outside the museum, and we will be happy to bring a bowl of water.

You are welcome to bring your dog into the park, as long as it is on a leash and you and your dog are considerate of other guests. By arrangement with the café, you can also bring your dog into the outdoor seating area, but remember that your dog must be on a leash and stay close to you.

If you have a service dog, it is of course welcome. Please contact the museum in advance so that we can notify all relevant parties.

It is not permitted to bring your own food into the museum unless you are coming with a school class or childcare institution.

However, packed lunches may be eaten in the park. At the entrance to the art school, there are tables set up where you can sit with your packed lunch. Please be considerate if there are classes that need to use the tables at the same time.

Children and young people under the age of 18 do not have to pay admission to Willumsens Museum.

Yes, you are welcome to shop in the store or visit Café Ærligt without redeeming a ticket. Then we just hope to see you in the exhibitions another time.

In the morning and at noon the exhibitions and café can be busy. If you are coming as part of a larger group it is a good idea to contact both museum og café for the future.

We recommend, if possible, using public transport or taking a bicycle. The museum is a short walk from Frederikssund S-train station. We have a limited number of parking spaces at the museum, but on weekends it is also possible to park at the kindergarten Pilehaven on the opposite side of JF Willumsens Vej or at the Strandgrillen on Strandvej.

Café Honest

Welcome to Café Ærligt at Willumsens Museum. You are welcome to visit the café without redeeming a ticket for the exhibitions. Café Ærligt members also get a discount in the café at Willumsens Museum, and the delicious Friday treats can be picked up here. Not a member yet? Then you can become one here >>

It can get busy around lunchtime, so if you want to avoid waiting, it's a good idea to order before you go to the museum. Then your food will be ready for you when you return.

If you are coming with a larger group, you can book a table in advance. The café can be contacted on tel: +452244 4886 or you can book a table using the form here.

For children and families

Bring the whole family to Willumsens Museum and let your imagination and creativity run wild. We have experiences and challenges for young and old, guided or on your own. The possibilities are many, and you decide what your program should look like. For example, explore the exhibitions with your art suitcase in hand or grab a pencil and draw your own version of the Relief Hall's sculptures. In the café you can enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and a game of picture lottery, and in the large museum garden you can go for a walk and let your senses breathe. On the second Sunday of every month there is Family Sunday with skilled teachers present in our creative workshop.

For schools and daycare centers

Art can challenge our habitual way of thinking, stimulate curiosity and teach us about that part of the world that does not always have an answer. It is our wish that all schoolchildren can enjoy the museum and the collection. At Willumsens Museum you can encounter authentic works of art. This means that the size, material, material surface and proportions of the artwork also play a role in a larger sensory experience that goes beyond mere motif recognition. All courses are based on the students' world of experience and their immediate encounter with the artwork and are supported by small practical exercises that strengthen the dialogical and process-oriented approach. All teaching courses relate to the common goals of the primary school, with the aim of making the museum visit academically relevant and providing input and new perspectives for the rest of the classroom teaching.

Groups

If you would like to visit the museum with a group, it is a good idea to contact us in advance. This way you will avoid having many groups coming at the same time. You and your group can visit the museum on your own, or book a guided tour. Guided tours take approximately 60 minutes, and you are very welcome to ask questions along the way.
The tour is designed as a general introduction to the person JF Willumsen, his works and his museum.
In addition, it is always possible to book special themed tours that can be adapted to all ages and interest groups.

There is room for up to 25 people on a tour. If your group consists of more than 10 people, we offer a discount on the entrance ticket.
