Children and families with children at Willumsens Museum
Bring the whole family to Willumsens Museum and let your imagination and creativity run wild. We have experiences and challenges for young and old, guided or on your own. The possibilities are many, and you decide what your program should look like. For example, explore the exhibitions with your art suitcase in hand or grab a pencil and draw your own version of the Relief Hall's sculptures. In the café you can enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and a game of picture lottery, and in the large museum garden you can go for a walk and let your senses breathe. On the second Sunday of every month there is Family Sunday with skilled teachers present in our creative workshop.
Art school
Does your child want to draw, paint, build sculptures and take photographs? If the answer is YES – then art school at Willumsens Museum is the place for you. The art school is open to anyone who wants to play with many different materials – and become more skilled at expressing themselves creatively. It is not important that your child is already an eagle at drawing and painting. We examine works of art and materials together, and practice along the way.
We start new classes for grades 0-2, grades 2-4 and grades 4-6 twice a year: in September and in January.

Family tours
Book a tour with one of our skilled art educators and take your family on a different museum experience. A tour costs 700 kroner excluding entrance for a one-hour tour of the exhibitions. The focus will be on the little ones, but there is something to do for the whole family, so just bring grandpa, aunt, cousins and uncles. There is room for 25 people on a tour. Remember that there is free admission for children and young people up to 18 years of age, and that you get a group discount if you buy admission for more than 10 adults at once.

The museum garden
Relax your senses with a calm – or wild – walk in the Willumsens Museum garden. There is room for both contemplation and a game of catch. Maybe you will find something that inspires you and that you can use in the creative workshop. You can always come back to the museum after a walk.

JOIN THE HUNT FOR WILLUMSEN'S COLORS
On this audio journey you meet a quirky guy. A boy named Willumsen, who throughout his life didn't really fit in, no matter where he was. He would rather draw than be in school. He would rather go on adventures around the world than be bored at home. And he loved colors! Did you know that many people actually believe that Jens Ferdinand Willumsen is one of the greatest Danish painters we've ever had? He was born in 1863 and died in 1958, so he became a really old man who experienced many funny things in his life. In this audio story you go on an adventure with Willumsen. But something is wrong. He has lost his colors, and you must go hunting in his paintings to find them. Only in this way can you ensure that the world doesn't remain gray and boring. On your journey, you choose the plot yourself, and you must be brave and curious to gain access to the paintings and the missing colors.
Start the hunt for Willumsen's colors at home or visit the Willumsens Museum.
After you have listened, you can go to Willumsens Museum. Here you can borrow the colors you find on the audio journey and draw your own pictures. It is not certain that you can always find the paintings from the story. But it is certain that you can find a lot of others. Maybe you can see if you can recognize some of the colors and emotions in Willumsens other paintings that hang in the museum?

Creative kit for families with children
Families with children can receive a creative kit when they visit Willumsens Museum. The creative kit contains materials and creative tasks for a few good hours at Willumsens Museum. With the task set, you can explore Willumsens' wild world together, delve into individual works, learn about form and color and create your own works of art.
The creative kit is free. You can take the tasks and materials home after the visit, only the box of crayons must be returned after use.

Children's birthday party at Willumsens Museum
Have a different children's birthday party in the beautiful surroundings of Willumsens Museum. Join our sweet and inspiring children's guide on a tour of Willumsens World to gather inspiration for the creative workshop. We will provide some drinks for the work. The tour of the museum and the creative workshop takes about two hours, and afterwards you are welcome to eat the food you brought – we will provide the table.
When the birthday celebration is over, you can go for a walk in the park or around the exhibitions – as long as you go as a group, children and adults together.
The price for the above plus a surprise for the birthday child is 1.300 kroner. The price applies to up to 15 children and two accompanying adults. If you wish to bring more adults, you are welcome to do so at the regular admission price.
