The Alchemist's Laboratory
A sensory art exhibition for children and adults
13 February – 22 August 2021
What does an alchemist keep in his drawers? Which plants can heal and which are poisonous? What are color pigments made of? The Alchemist's Laboratory invites children and adults on a journey of discovery into the wonderful world of alchemy.
Inspired by alchemy, visual artist Cecilia Westerberg (b. 1967) has created an exhibition where science, art and magic are mixed with fictional stories and real facts. The exhibition is built around four rooms that reflect the alchemist's quest to transform lower-ranking materials into the ultimate: gold.
The Alchemist's Laboratory reflects the alchemist's collections and laboratories in a magical sensory universe where you are invited to discover, explore and create.
A STEP DEEPER
In the four films, each linked to a room in “The Alchemist's Laboratory,” you can follow Cecilia Westerberg deeper into the techniques, thoughts, and works behind the exhibition.

The exhibition is supported by Nordea-fonden, the Danish Arts Foundation and the Danish Art Workshops and is arranged in collaboration with Vendsyssel Art Museum, Skovgaard Museum and Vejle Art Museum.
