Art can challenge our habitual way of thinking, spark curiosity and teach us about the part of the world that doesn't always have an answer. It is our wish that all schoolchildren can enjoy the museum and the collection. Teaching at Willumsens Museum is based on the encounter with the original works of art through a playful, inclusive and community-oriented approach. In our course, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the art through current exhibitions, possible workshop visits and always with practical exercises integrated along the way to provide space for reflection, attention and different learning.
Willumsens Museum offers classes Tuesday – Friday from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm. All courses are free for primary schools in Frederikssund Municipality. Classes must be cancelled no later than 10 days before the booked date. If cancelled later, the full price of the course will be invoiced.
Practical things to know when visiting Willumsens Museum
At Willumsens Museum we are very happy to receive visits from schools and institutions. To ensure that the visit is positive for all parties, we encourage you to talk to the students in advance about how to behave in a museum. For example, that you must be considerate of the artworks and the other museum visitors.
We must take good care of our artworks so that they can last for many years to come and be a delight to visitors – also in the future. Therefore, they must not be touched, and you may only work with pencils and crayon-like paint in the halls.
When you visit the museum on your own, we ask that teachers accompany their students around in groups. Remember that it is good practice to walk around quietly and make sure not to get too close to the individual works. And it is nice if the noise level is acceptable for everyone – including other visitors.
